Visit to the Lifescience Innovation Canadian Ontario Ecosystem

On December 2019 the ESTERN Medical CRO Senior Management were invited by the Ontario, Canadian Government Foreign Direct Investment Services Trade and Investment Division to visit the Canadian Lifescience cluster cities of the Ontario Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga, Brampton & Hamilton.

Dr. Jorge Estrella, President & Chief Medical Officer at ESTERN Medical, did mention those key Canadian – Ontario cities represent the bulk of Lifesciences research and clinical development for  Universities, Pharmaceutical, Biotech’s and MedTech’s companies that span across Ontario region ecosystems that ESTERN Medical is currently looking for its potential strategic Canadian location expansion that amidst some of Canada’s leading education research and healthcare centers, that is well-connected ecosystem that cultivates and nurtures research and development innovation.


The Ontario Lifesciences clusters have grown into a diverse ecosystem expanding beyond a Pharmaceutical hub with a very noticeable growth in medical devices, biopharma/rare diseases, diagnostics and digital health. Dr. Estrella has also mention this diversity and growth is indicative of the sustainability of the sector and the vitality of a broader region that can support continuous growth in synergy with our US North America and Latin America current business company infrastructure, most important our proximity with our New England (Boston, Cambridge & New Hampshire) offices could enhance ESTERN in becoming the top Clinical Contract Research Organization for the Americas to cultivate a full clinical research innovation driven networks.


ESTERN Medical management was also invited to visit McMaster University Innovation Park with the Heads of the McMaster ecosystems. Dr. Estrella did comment this high achieving infrastructure works with an integrated academic and R&D experience that Offers an advanced LifeScience infrastructure that we will continue to explore a collaboration together. 


Going beyond, the William Osler Health System Brampton & ESTERN Medical are in the initial process of forming a collaboration with Dr. Ronald Heslegrave, Corporate Chief of Research.  As mention by Dr. Jorge Estrella, as one of Canada’s largest community hospitals is in the enviable and challenging position of keeping pace with the health care & clinical trials research care needs of one of the most diverse and fastest growing medical institutions in the country. It will be an honor collaborating with Dr. Ronald Heslegrave, Dr. Estrella did comment.
